I know I'm way too premature about this, but I was wondering how long it would take before the new 4G would be jailbroken? I just jalbroke my 3Gs and love it and don't know if I should jump ship when the 4G comes out.

Thanks, I'm hoping I can just plug the 4G into itunes and have everything from my jailbroken 3gs on the 4G?

I bought PkgBackup and backed up all my apps. I'm just not too sure how it works since I haven't had to use it yet? Do I have to purchase it again when I get a new phone?

iTunes doesn't backup any jailbroken apps/extensions.

Buy PkgBackup

First of all, backup your Cydia apps using PkgBackup and save contacts to iTunes (that's where PkgBackup stores it's data file).

Hopefully, we will all be able to transfer PkgBackup to our new iPhones and the developer updates it quickly to work with firmware 4.0.

Then transfer contacts to new iPhone and use PkgBackup to restore the Cydia apps/extensions.

One thing to remember, many of the Cydia apps will have bugs with the new 4.0 firmware and/or may not run at all. The developers will have to update them. Some may never be updated. So it's a big waiting game.

Thanks a lot. This was real helpful! How do you save contacts to itunes? I just sync music and apps as of now. Sorry...

Thanks, this won't do anything with my actual contacts right? I never synced them to my computer.

It will save your iPhone contacts to your computer.

If you have contacts already on your computer, it could alter the ones already there (or just add the new ones from the phone)

It may also import the contacts already on your computer to your iPhone depepnding on the selections made to overwrite computer/iPhone etc.

Hint: Back up the contacts on your computer to your hard drive.

K - I hope I don't over write all of my contacts... Thanks again.

Plug in the phone, start iTunes, go to the tabs and select Sync Contacts
