So Cal
How long are we going to have to wait for an iPhone 5 jailbreak, I mean it was already announced yesterday... Do you think it will be ready soon.

Seriously ?

This thread is worse than the other one wondering how long a new jailbreak will take.

Why do people ask questions not a soul can answer ?

It's the macrumors double edged sword. Best place online to discuss iOS hacks, learn of new tweaks in cydia, and ask for help when you run into problems. But it's also flooded with repeating threads asking the same questions over and over and over again. Very frustrating for daily contributing members. But I still believe this is the best jailbreaking forum on the internet.

OP, the best way to stay up to date on these types of things is to check jailbreaking news related sites and not a forum. Even better than that, follow the hackers and devs on twitter since thats always where the news breaks first. I never used twitter in the past but all the hackers use it to make big announcements. I created an account just to follow these members of the jailbreak community since its the absolute best place to find late breaking news on a new jailbreak. Then after the news breaks on twitter, that's when the blogs, news sites, and forums start spreading the word.

Thanks, If I had seen another similar thread I would not have started this one.

I am considering switching back to apple iphone, but will wait for the jailbreak. Thats the reason for the question.

Also sometimes android phones are rooted before public the release, or as soon as it is, also another reason for the question

Don't expect it right away it takes time. The true hackers go through about 750 mb line by line looking for exploits then those have to be stable. I wouldn't expect it for a few months. We could get lucky but don't count on it. Android is open sourced making rooting easy iOS is closed sorce that's why jabreaking is much more difficult.

There's also the slim possibility that the iPhone 5 won't be jailbroken until the 7th generation iPhone is released and the even slimmer chance that it will never be jailbroken.

You don't see it because you don't look. It's very annoying when all we see is "When will iphone 5 be JB" whenever a new iphone is out.

The real question is when they'll Jailbreak iPhone 6. I'm sick of waiting. Get off your asses.

When the 4s was launched I remember waiting 3-4 months for the jb.

I think it came out late January. But for the 5 I'm guessing a longer wait.

What a great question.
Not:D
Im seriously thinking of keep using my JB 4S instead of the i5 I ordered untill its finally JB.
Does that make me weird or odd by any chance?:D

I am keeping my i4 for a while. I'm happy with how it is right now (JB, ATT unlocked). I of course want the 5, but being out of contract is so nice (even though I have no plans of switching carriers or traveling so I don't know why it matters but it does). This is me practicing asceticism:)

I'm sure it is going to be a while. We only had two usable jailbreaks on the 4S, and were extremely lucky that iOS 5.1.1 lasted for so long without needing any updates.

Who knows... maybe there is a bootrom exploit hole tucked away somewhere that would allow the device to be JB-ed on all subsequent iOS releases, even if it means a tethered boot.

As for a JB, I would be pleasantly surprised if I saw one in a fully usable state before February. Jailbreaking isn't like Android where it just takes getting access to the root user; there is a whole environment that has to be loaded onto the phone before one can even dream of having Cydia work.

Facepalm time.

Weird, Yes
Odd, Yes

I'm in the same boat. Finally was able to do the official ATT unlock after my iPhone 4 went off contract. I do travel internationally for work so I'm pretty happy. I want the 5 but it's going to be a hard transition unless I pay full price for an unlocked phone.

I wonder if the cheap IEMI gret market Unlocks will work for iPhone 5 as well I don't see why they wouldn't. I'm sure we will know soon after people have them in hand. then you can get a I5 under contract and get it unlocked soon after. then sell your I4 when and if you want.

If they do, vendors will jack up the prices since there will be a demand surge

I'm not very hopeful, but I hope it's with us in a few months. Salivating at the thought of my 64gb iPhone (current is a 32gb 4) only days away, but I'm REALLY going to miss Zephyr, Switchy, Activator & NCSettings. All the other jb stuff I couldn't give a monkeys about, but the above tweaks make the iPhone soooo much better it's untrue.
