I am thinking of jailbreaking my iphone for the pure reason that i was told that i would then be able to play old snes games on it.

Is this true?

I have an iphone 3g with the film ware 2.2, is this film ware able to be jailbroken?

I have never jailbroken my iphone before so am a little apprehensive that i might break it.

Yes ... 2.2 is the current jailbreak/unlock firmware ... google for pwnagetool or quickpwn

Both are decent solutions .... depending on your confidence, if you know someone who's done it .. get them to do yours

Its been made more or less straightforward these days so you shouldn't have too much trouble.

I feel ok at doing it im just a bit apprehensive about doing it. Can anything go wrong and screw my device up?

I would be doing it from a Windows Vista PC os does it matter which of the above i use?

Thanks for your help so far :)

i just recently unlocked mine for playing snes/nes as well. SNES is playable only if the sound is off. I don't think it is worth it IMO but this is improving from what i have seen and hopefully will be fixed soon. NES works fine, a little lag here and there, but it is hard to control. But give it a shot

edit: i did not lose my contacts

For Windows, use QuickPwn. You will not loose any data if you do it correctly, just think of it as an update, or an add-on. You will keep all of your files. If anything goes wrong, you can always do a restore. Just don't disconnect it whilst it's doing the hack, or you'll have a new paper weight. :)

BTW, it's Firmware, not film ware :p

Where did you get the SNES emulator? SSH, or Cydia? Wait... No... NOT INSTALLER!?
