Hi,

I have a 3GS running 3.1.2 which has been jail brokwn, however, the jailbreak only lasts as long as the phone is turned on...

if I turn it off, or need to reboot...then I lose the jail break and get the 'plug into itune' screen when I turn it back on, and have to run blackrain again.

surely this isn't normal?

How can I get a permanent jailbreak?

You have a newer bootrom and require a tethered jailbreak. There are no other options for you at the moment, you'll have to re-jailbreak every reboot.

balls....

ok, thanks....

pity, as I really need to wipe it and start again since I'm having major probs with the apps.

I'm so tempted to upgrade to 3.1.3 so that I have a fresh, factory clean phone to start with, but just can't live without the jailbreak.

I'm pretty much screwed

yes, I understand that I don't lose it, but I can't reboot it without a PC...not always possible if I need to reboot in the middle of nowhere, or my battery runs out

Well, there is hope. Two different untethered jailbreaks have been previewed (but being held until next firmware release) and there is the iDongle which is just now going on sale in limited supply.

thanks...

I really need to wipe the phone though cos it's just playing up something awful (apps closing immediately after openinr, installed apps not appearing at all, etc etc)

a hard reset appears to be the only option

hmmm...things have not gotten any better,

I needed to reboot, and now my phone is stuck in an endless loop..

apple logo, plug into itunes message, apple logo....etc etc etc...

any help is greatly appreciated!!
