I have tried downloading the latest ipsw into redsn0w and it never recognizes it. can anyone help me? more specifically it says it will not recognize it.

What model phone and on what software do you have?
Note, if its a 2g on 3.1.3, then redsnow needs to be pointed to ipsw 3.1.2 (not 3)

Make sure the firmware file you downloaded ends in .ipsw extension.
Also make sure you're using the latest redsnow and correct ipsw for your device. And maybe redownload the files again.
