Hi,

Im new to the whole jailbreak scene. Ive been a goody goody with my iphone, but have recently got an iPad. And apps are expensive and i want more!

I understand that its not a good time at the moment, and when 4.2 gets untethered then maybe i will try it.

What are the pros? cons?

anything i need to beaware of?

thanks in advance Kyle

PROS= Everything!

Cons=...none-as you can still use it just as you do an unjailbroken one!

Be careful if you bring it to an apple store for a repair if it's jailbroken. I'd advise you do a restore to original FW if you plan to do this.

HAHA ok they may not enjoy that experience?

Ok so what will i lose/gain if i jailbreak?

is it 100% reliable? and 100% undo-able?

Jailbreaking give you root access to your device, giving you the freedom to do, install, remove and manage it as you wish. So yes,,, you are only limited by your own imagination.

100% undoable....YES

Reliable???? well....the process of Jailbreaking is as reliable as any firmware/software modification, same risk as upgrading your firmware using itunes.

Now what you do after you got your freedom is up to you and some stuff may make your device unreliable, so read, ask question and read some more before installing anything, check the Developrs website.

Is like asking, are Motorcycles safe?? well the bike itself it is, who drive it would make the different. ;)

Reliable? Well, not 100%. JB itself doesnt make the system unstable, but it sure lets you do stuff that can totally mess things up. Good news is, it is 100% undoable. You just restore to stock firmware and you are good as new.

Ok, so for example

if i installed an app that is paid on app store but free on some cydia thing? what happens when the app get an update does its auto update liek the app store? or on itunes?

Confused?

Kyle

im just wondering for example.

not saying its going to happen!

completely innocent question!

Actually, those pirated apps are the more likely culprits to crash your jb. Unless you're an idiot (and it's not looking good for you right now), you avoid cracked apps.
