Can you jailbreak a device without the device owner really knowing its been done?

My buddy wants to install stealth genie on his 15 year old daughters phone to spy on her BF and it needs to be jailbroken first. Just curious if when you jailbreak what all does it change that she might notice?

thanks

If she goes into settings.app often she'll noticed the added app probably. Idk how that app is handled. I'm pretty sure it's possible with a combination of tweaks to completely hide (or lock access to) all the jailbreak options so you may want to look into that.

The Cydia app gets installed. So there's an obvious thing to notice.

But why does your buddy think spying is the answer?

If your buddy finds anything about her bf and confronts her with it, how will she ever trust her father again?

Lets let him worry about the moral side of it.

Would Cydia be the the only obvious change?

Well... Great buddy you got there.

I don't know stealth genie, so I can't say if its noticable. But other then that, yes the Cydia app is the only obvious change.

no offense, but if he has any reason to believe her boyfriend is up to anything, shouldn't he ask to look through her phone, or go to his carrier, and see the texts? it's pretty simple. i'm 15 and my mom says that its fine if i have an iPhone, but she has the right to look at texts, and photos and such. and she knows all my passwords. i never get into trouble, so i think this method is effective.

How are people not ok with looking at a sons or daughters phone? It is absolutely ok with me haha. Btw you can hide certain apps and even the cydia button. Just also in stall springtomize and it has lots of options to hide apps. The springboard could have the possibility of crashing and exposing the app but that not likely to happen as long as you don't overload the springboard. And I'm sure about this particular app but some are designed not to be apparent

This is accomplishable if you follow a few simple steps:
1. Jailbreak the device and install what ever the spying tweak is called as well as an app called 'poof'.
2. Go into poof and hide the cydia icon and poof icon as well as the spying tweaks icon (if it has one).
3. If the spying tweak appears in settings then you will need to either SSH, or easier download 'iFunBox' and use that to navigate to: Library/PreferenceLoader/Preferences and then delete the spyingapp.Plist/PNG (make sure you create a backup before hand)

That should do the trick, Poof can then be accessed through spotlight when required. As many people have stated a both though - spying isn't the best way to go about this.
