I accidentally somehow bricked my old iPod touch a year ago when I jailbroke it. I don't have too many detail's on exactly what I did to do so (although I did use phone explorer to mess around with some files, bad idea) and I restarted my iPod and it wouldn't load past the apple logo. I tried putting into DFU mode and every other trick in the book to restore it but to no avail. Even the geniuses were scratching their heads. So my question is:

How do you make a backup to restore to if things go haywire? I read an article a while back that said there's a way top make a backup or something through cydia to restore to if things go wrong. Forgot what it was called though.

edit-
I'm not looking for a fix for my iPod, just simply a backup plan in case my shiney new iPhone 4s also dies when the jailbreak comes out.

If your concern is with your 4S winding up like your old iPod, here's an idea... Don't edit the raw files like you did before. Ta-Da.
