Hi guys, new member. I am semi-familiar with the jailbreak process as I have had AT&T for a while with jailbroken iphones. My question is jailbreaking a VIP4 4.2.8 using the new Redsn0w rc18.

I am worried because people have posted that this is a TETHERED jailbreak. From everything else I read, it seems to be an untethered jailbreak. If it is an untethered jailbreak, all I have to do it run redsn0w and im golden right?

Thanks
Andy

the only reason i ask is because they just released something last week which claims to be untethered using HFS Exploit. I have no idea what that means

I may be wrong but I believe Redsn0w is untethered for everything except the new betas.

It's untethered for 4.3.3 for sure.

thanks lostprophet84, i was pretty sure that the new redsn0w software is untethered for verizon CDMA 4.2.8. Can someone who has successfully done this confirm that it is in fact untethered

After doing a little more reading it seems I was wrong.

If you go to iphoneblogr.com there's a guide to all jailbreaks at the top of the page.

That website doesnt reflect the latest redsn0w software released last week (rc18) ..which supposedly is for my phone and is untethered
