Why is it that everytime I jailbreak mine or a friends iphone it gives me problems. I follow the step by step tutorial and when it goes to update the phones software first it says that it encounters an error and that it goes into recover mode then it takes me like 5 tries of messing around with redsn0w to finally get it to work? Does anyone else have this problem? it just happened on my friends phone that wasnt even jailbroken yet and it wouldnt upgrade software normally through itunes

Does anyone else have this problem?

Nope, never had a jb issue or upgrading iOS. People who have problems updating iOS seem to have TinyUmbrella in common. TU changes the host file and points it to Cydia servers which no longer works and the iOS upgrade fails.

^ Make sure your hosts file isn't edited. Server doesn't work anymore. Personally, I've never had a problem with a jb!

tiny umbrella changes some sort of server thing if you have it on. What you need to do is untick the box reading "set hosts to cydia"
