My accelerometer quit working. It seems to be a hardware issue since I clean installed IOS5 (installed as new iPod) and my 'Touch's accelerometer is only working intermittently at best.

However, is it possible some files are left on the device from the JB process even after installing as a "new iPod"?

I bought my 'Touch used about six months ago (no warranty anyways).

I have jailbroken many devices and have never seen this happen so I think it might just be the fact that it was used.

Make sure you arn't locked into portrait mode.

If you are ABSOLUTELY sure you aren't in portrait mode, then try this (NOT guaranteed)

1. Jailbreak the device
2. SSH or use iFile
3. Navigate to /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/nXX.plist
(XX = numbers specific to the device)
4. Using a plist editor, find this line:
<key>accelerometer</key>
<false/>

5a. If you have that, simply change it to:
<key>accelerometer</key>
<true/>

Then reboot and done!

5b. If you have something like:
<key>accelerometer</key>
<true/>

Then you should ask Apple because that is the default setting.

HOPE THIS HELPED!
