It's really up to how competent you are with this kind of thing. The negatives are that you could brick your phone. I assume you've read all the threads on here and all the problems some have had. If you have read them, and have the confidence to try, then you should go for it. For me, I'd want to have two iPhones, one to use normally and one to jailbreak.

I would like a EXPERT friend to do it for me !

If your phone brick...does it brick as your jailbreaking it or can it happen down the line somewhere? And also I know it voids your warranty...that's something else Im worried about. I have takin my white 3g back about 4 times due to cracks and other problems.

Like i said you cant brick an iPhone. Just restore your iphone before you take it back to apple.

The worst that can happen is that you'll have to restore your phone. I wish they offered an unlocking solution without having to jailbreak like the first gen, but beggars can't be choosers, I suppose.

If a friend knows how to do it, let him/her. If you're doing it yourself for the first time, I agree, go to YouTube and look at how other people use the latest software.

Good luck and happy unlocking!

Facts about jailbreaking from "personal experience":

1. The phone will not be bricked.
2. It does not void warranty (I have replaced my phone way too many times).
3. Not as cool as you think.
4. Not for everyone.

^ All true. There's no reason to Jailbreak... at least for me... at the moment. Although I think the OP wants to unlock.

I just jailbroke my 16 gig 3gs abot 3 hours ago. Went perfectly, and I don't see a problem yet

Sweet....My freind is going to do it for me...She has had her 32Gig 3gs jailbroken for a few days now....I have been playing with her phone and liking it....I just didn't know the worst that could happen from this..
