iPod touch Jailbreaking: hard drive usage

Hi,

I wonder if jailbreaking my iPod touch 2G with iOS ver. 4.2.1(8C148) model MC086BT will enable hard disk usage.
I'd like to put video and audio files on it with ubuntu -- I actually can't (see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/PortableDevices/iPhone).

I understand that afterwards I may need apps that are capable of accessing files on the hard disk area.

Any idea / hint if this could work?
