Hello to you all ,
I am going to the local public library(they have macs) to jailbreak my iPhone 4 . Would there be any legal issues if I get caught or is it not possible to do so because the library computers block access ? I just moved to the east coast and I don't have a computer here . So the least I could do is jailbreak my iphone4 4.3.3 ?

Any tips guys ? I'm planning on doing this in a few hours

As long as you are on an isolated zone, heh. Libraries usually condone their users not using the computers for their intended purposes. If you have any access to any other computer, I suggest you do so with that one. Remember you can also jailbreak with a Windows PC. A poster in this forum has this very useful link: http://jailbreak-me.info/

I don't have any access to another computer but the public library . So il make my move . I mean whats the worst that can happen remove a free library card away from me lol .

Also would the librarians know if I am downloading say pwnagetool or redsnow and the ipsw firmware ? I know the firmware will take about 20 min to download so I will make it look like I an researching with a book in my hand

If your library is like mine then they'll have download limits or bandwidth limits per connection. My laptop broke awhile back and needed to download the 4.3.1 IPSW. It would get all the way up to 95% and then the connection would get cut. Every time I tried download again, same thing everytime. Assuming this to be true for your library, I think you'd be okay downloading Pwnage/Redsn0w but the IPSW might be a little headache for you. Our library's suck around here so your experience might be a little better than mine was.

Research something complicated like quantum physics and then run all this in the background. If they ask about you being plugged in, say you're charging your phone. Good luck!

Honestly, the whole "jailbreaking is illegal!" bs is out of hand. If the computer at the library has the ability to, and no rules are posted or agreed to by you, the user, to the contrary, then do it.

I'm going to reiterrate that the library may have vague but still posted rules about using the computer for anything but research.

That's from my "be a good boy" side. On the other side of this, who gives a crap? Just go in and do your thing. Are they really going to call the cops on "this kid that was modifying his phone with a pineapple"?

lol well said

Pwnage still requires installation. Programs d/l as a .dmg file. You open it to access the install file.
OP, the library may not allow you to install a program without admin permission. Well, if they're smart, they won't.
so programs run without any installation?

Discussion of cracked/pirated apps, etc. is enough to get you banned around here. Read the rules and quit while you're ahead.
