Is it possible to jailbreak iphone 4 without activation? I am receiving an iphone 4 soon, which is new in the box and no contract. I heard here that you needed it and at the same time other sources said you didn't need activation. I was hoping to jailbreak it as well, since there is no warranty to break. I wasn't sure if I needed to go to AT&T and buy a cheap pay as you go SIM card, or if jailbreakme.com (through mobile safari) was the only thing I need to do.

So it can be activated through iTunes without an AT&T contract?

You will need an official carrier micro-sim to activate it. It may actually come with a sim in it. The sim does not have to active to activate the phone.
