In general are ipod touches easier to jailbreak because one would have to find the jailbreak and follow the directions to jailbreak.

For iPhones, with the addition of baseband causing problems, does iPhones take more time and more steps to jailbreak than iPods?

I've never jailbroke an ipod but jailbreaking an iphone using redsnow takes less than 2 minutes. I jailbroke it with 4.3.5 and had to run it twice (about 5 minutes total) in order to install cydia and boot tethered. Maybe that can give you an idea. As far as steps, you just need to learn how to read to order to use redsnow, its like 5 steps. VERY EASY

they are really about the same. the baseband does offer at little more difficulty and patience, understanding. because if you screw up and upgrade the baseband there is no going back.

Gotcha, that would be very risky though

Thanks, just the response I was looking for.
