If I Jailbreak my Iphone now and then do the upgrade to 2.0 will that do away with the current Jailbreak settings??

Yes.
If you plan to go that route I would recommend Restoring to the new firmware than simply Updating, a safer bet.

Yeah with the beta for 2.0 and all I bet they have got a hack worked out... It should only take days typically, unless Apple has done something to crack down on the hacks, no matter what - a hack will be made...

onced hacked where are all the cool apps...I thought about doing with ziphone just to try...I plan on getting the 3g but giving this to my daughter

There will always be people that will want to hack their phones, but I'm hopeful that the App Store will remove the relative need to hack it.

Zibri (ziphone guy) already has a hack for iphone 2.0 but hasen't released it yet.
