Hello there,

I’m looking for a confirmation among you knowledgable ones. :)

I got an iPhone 3G and would like to jailbreake it. It is officially unlocked by Apple.

I jailbroke an officially unlocked iPhone Classic without problems using PwnageTool.

Will there be any problems with 4.2.1 and iPhone 3G at all? I just want to jailbreake it. I dunno if there will be any repercussions on the official Apple unlock?

Yes you can jailbreak tons of threads talking about it here. Iclarified has tutorials. Nobody knows about future unlOchs so bare that in mind. By the way link at my signature will help with jb & unlocks. Can I jb/ul click here.

Just jailbroke my iPhone 3G two times and each time it won’t find the network - just one bar showing, as if the official activation was gone?

If I restore the phone it’s automatically activated and back to see all networks.

Any ideas?

Few questions?

1. How did you know your Iphone was official unlocked by Apple?
2. Where did you buy this phone?
3. What is the modem firmware on your Iphone now? 05.15?

My suspect that you have a software unlock phone. Now you update to the latest firmware in Itunes and therefore, your unlock is gone.

If you use the 4.3.1 jb, there's an issue with the display of the signal bars. Wait a while until the jb is in final release.

The phone is a German one. After the contract expired it got officially unlocked by Apple, just like my iPhone classic.

The baseband is 5.15.04.

The funny thing is the iPhone classic got jailbroken without any issues via PwnageTool. This one however (iphone 3G) doesn’T seem to find the network after the jailbreakage.

Guys, I think I discovered my mistake.

I accidentally had in BOTH cases “ACTIVATE THE PHONE” checked!

I don’t need it after all. D’uh!

Thank your for your kind input.
