HI

I'm thinking of jailbreaking my iphone 4 so that I can customise my lock screen. Is there any risks I need to be careful of if I decided to go ahead & jailbreak :? My ios versions 6.1

If I use the latest jailbreak release my iPhone won't stand a chance of being bricked or becoming unusable :?

Out of all the iPhone's that I have jailbroken since 2007, I have never seen a bricked iPhone.

As for unusable, some tweaks make cause rebooting, in which you just remove it after words.

The act of jail-breaking your iPhone does not cause issues.

Now the act of downloading bad tweaks or ones that have compatibility issues with each other can cause safe mode crashes which is easily resolved by un installing.

I too have never come across a bricked phone.

Normally people who start a thread saying I've bricked my phone just have not done enough homework on resolving issues and panic a little.

So my advice is to look into jail breaking and the tweaks available and press ahead. After all if its not for you all you need to do is restore via itunes and its gone.

What type of changes do you want to make. IMHO the best way for someone who is new to JB to run into problems is by loading on tons of tweaks. Take a slow approach, think about what you want to change and then do some searching on here about that specific tweak or app.

Taking your time and doing the research helps you to install only the apps/tweaks that you want and will also save you money and time.

Thanks for all the comments guys. I really only plan to jailbreak so that I can customise my lock screen. I think I will go ahead & jailbreak my iPhone now...

Well then welcome to the world of not having apple sandbox your phone.

One word of caution.

You may set out just to mod your lock screen but once you realise the varied and wonderful tweaks are available you will be tempted. :D

Just do your homework on each tweak before installing it !

Thank you for the tip & heads up. I reckon that I will be tempted at some point, but I will be careful with what I choose to install...

You can stay on 6.0 or update. Evasi0n works on both for the 4S but personally I'd update to 6.1.1.

6.1.1 is essentially a bug fix for 3g on the 4s.
As such you dont have to move from 6.1 to 6.1.1 but it cant hurt to do so.

I would update to 6.1.1 via iTunes.

Perform a back up via iTunes or icloud or both.

Ensure iTunes is closed and your passcode is turned off.

Step by step instructions are on the evasi0ns web page.
Use the latest version of evasion and enjoy.

Then use the search function on here to learn about tweaks and what they do and what to do if you come across any glitches.

Ok so I jailbroke my iPhone & followed steps on customising the lock screen. Everything's been smooth so far but I have one question...

I found this while flicking around on the web [ http://m.lifehacker.com/5840190/make-your-jailbroken-iphone-run-like-os-x-with-the-lion-ultimatum-theme ] I really think it looks good & want to give it a whirl. Has anyone tried it yet :? Or does anyone think I should pass on it !!
