My iPod Touch was on 4.3.2, jail broken, and I wanted the Absinthe 2.0 5.1.1 jailbreak so I went in my iPod in Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content And Settings. Just before I did this, I downloaded the 5.1.1 firmware in iTunes and made a backup of my jail broken 4.3.2 firmware. Currently, my iPod Touch has been erasing for 44 hours and I'm afraid I may have bricked my iPod. It has been on a black screen with the normal continuous Apple loading circle. Any help? My Cydia had about 3k files and directories and my iPod had about 8 GB (159 songs, 150 photos, 70 notes, 30 saved bookmarks, ect.) of data. My iPod is plugged up to a wall charger by USB. Other information - Home Button does not work; Lock button does not work but if I hold it in, the power down slider will appear; the battery is bad (only lasts about an hour or 2 on normal usage and about 6 on standby). Any suggestions? Should I call Apple Support? Is my iPod bricked? Please Help.

Erase all content and settings is a BIG NO NO for jailbreaking. It is known to send devices into loops and such. Restore your ipod using DFU mode and all should be good.

How do I put it in DFU mode if my home button is broke? Also, my iPod does not show on iTunes because it is erasing. Is there any way to discontinue the "manual restore" without messing us the iPod configurations?

Thank you. My iPod doesn't show up in iTunes because it is erasing, so that tutorial wouldn't work since the last step is to restore through iTunes. Should I contact Apple support or do you have any other advice?

Unfortunatley, Apple won't touch your ipod because it is jailbroken. You could try to repair the home button so you could send it to DFU mode.

I let my iPod drain off its battery completely then I turned it on and it worked completely fine, just like it had before I tried to "Erase All Content And Settings". Currently, I made a backup and am updated to 5.1.1 then using Absinthe 2.0 since they support 5.1.1 and DFU mode isn't required, at least that is what I had read. Thank you for your support.
