jalibreaking 3gs 4.0 iBoot-359.3

i have never done this before...i have a 3gs iphone which has never been tampered with , its on OS 4.0 and its iboot is 359.3 which is considered the old bootrom. is there a way to jailbreak it right now ? If now can i go back to 3.1.3 (or any older OS) and jailbreak it ? i cant find a HOW TO this

Im guessing you dont have SHSH's saved for previous firmware builts so its not possible to downgrade your 3GS either.

No, you cannot find/download your unique devices SHSH's blobs.
I wont go into detail why its too late to retrieve them cause I can tell just by asking this you're not familiar at all how downgrading works for 3GS and iphone 4 models.

so its not that i can download a previous firmware and use it to restore?

Give it a try and see how far you get :D
Itunes will not let you restore to anything but 4.0.1
Those particular previous built blobs are released by Apples servers while the firmware is still available thru itunes.
Now that 4.0.1 is out Apple is only releasing SHSH's for 4.0.1 and not for 3.1.3 or 3.1.2 and not even for 4.0
So if you didnt save/retrieve them back then you cannot get them now and use them to downgrade. Its too late.
Trust me when I said you cant right now you cant.
There's no other workarounds or options for your particular situation.

ok i got it ! thanks a lot for your help ... should i not upgarde it to 4.0.1? every time i connect to itunes its asking me to uprgade ... i want to jailbreak when possible
