iPod touch Jammed home button

The home button for my itouch is jammed. I have to press the button really hard for it to respond. Is there any way i can fix it or know what to do?

If you want to take the risk, you can try hitting it really, really hard.
OR you could just take it to the Genius Bar.

First or second gen touch?

If it's a first, do you have Applecare?

If it's a second, take it to your local Apple store.

For a device with only 4 buttons you really got some bad luck there

My advice: Send it to Apple if its still under warranty, or if your comfortable opening the device yourself take it apart assess the damage (If any is visible) and attempt to fix the problem (If possible) or purchase a replacement from ifixit.com or similar replacement parts boutique.
