Though not supported by Apple, I would like upgrade the RAM in my January 2008 MBP to 6gb up from 4gb. I have 3 questions:

1. With my vintage of MBP can this be done?
2. If yes, I assume I have to buy a 4gb and a 2gb ram sticks. So where and what memory should I buy? (supplier, speed, spec, etc). Please be as specific as possible.

3. Also, for someone who has already done this, have you encountered any issues, problems, system failures, software conflicts? I use MS office, VMWare Fusion, Firefox as well as itunes and Safari.

Thank you.

Thanks, all

It looks like it just isn't worth the $175-200 for the additional memory for a marginal boost in performance. I do hope that Apple addresses this in it3 MBP 3.1+ laptops in Snow Leopard...wishful thinking I bet.
