So Calif
Going to Japan for 2 weeks this month and looking at some electronics to purchase in Japan as the Japanese yen is weaker and also saving 10% consumption tax as it will be brought back to the US.

Any place in Fukuoka, Osaka or Tokyo that have great prices ??

Looking for:

  • iPad Mini w/ cellular LTE
  • Garmin D2 X10 smartwatch
  • Garmin ADS-B
  • Sentry Plus ADS-B in/out
  • Icom/Yaesu/Vertex aviation AM VHF handheld radio

Just bear in mind that the Apple Store doesn't participate in the tax free scheme so you'd have to buy from a reseller - BIC Camera / Yodobashi Camera, etc. This also means you can't have anything custom / CTO, you have to accept the standard models, but for an iPad I can't see that being an issue. I bought AirPods at Yodobashi Camera last year, the staff were very familiar with tax free and it went really smoothly.

Thanks - that was helpful as I didn't know Apple store Japan did not participate in the 10% consumption tax refunds.

I saw some coupons for Yodobashi Camera and will try them out.
