I'm going to Japan mid-Sept for about 6 weeks, wondering what I should do? I make HD Youtube vlog videos and edit using CS5 Adobe Premiere and After Effects, will the base line model be suitable for the time away from my i7 iMac, totally would have considered getting a 17" MBP if I knew ahead of time.

If it says Macbook Pro on it, regardless of size, you should be fine.
I recommend the 13 since you're travelling.
Even the Macbook Air can do the job, just bring an external HD for the space.

Depending on how much you want to spend, you could also chose the MBP 13inch i7 or the base 15inch, anything larger and its pretty hard to travel with or use in small space like the airplane
