As far as I know, none of the Japanese 'Idol' DVDs or Photobooks are generally released in the UK (and I presume the US too).
Nonetheless there are now pocket sized digital picture books of various Japanese Idol models now available for the iPhone.
These Apps consist of, a selection of photos (less than 100) in varying portrait and landscape formats.
There are a number of different publishers, but are named along the lines of Japanese Idol Collection vol (#) or Japanese Sexy Girls vol (#).
The pictures from the 'Idol Collection' series have a small print / watermark on them, although, you are able to save all the photos off (individually) to your iPhone camera gallery.
Picture sizing is (I believe) 800x521 (L) and 535x800 (P), although I am sure that there has been some resizing done of a lower resolution image, because some of the photos are a little grainy.
You can browse the photos via a thumbnail gallery (like any photo album on your iPhone), or just dive straight into them chronologically and this is offered from the outset.
For the 'Sexy Girls' series, there do not appear to be watermarks, but there is no prompt for saving the pictures to the library, so you will have to use the general screen capture function to do so and obviously the photo resolution is restricted to 320x480, although the source images don't appear to be of a noticeably higher resolution.
The browser is slightly different in that you go straight to the first image full screen, but a tap of the screen reveals more browsing options and information
