Maybe I was just in a good mood, but the Jar Glove fake commercial on last night's premiere of Saturday Night Live really got me laughing. Fake commercials are my favorite type of skit on SNL, and this one ranks with the best of them.

I guess the writers still have some nicely warped ideas up their sleeve. Some people don't think the show is still worth it but so far so good this season: see 'SNL' has best premiere since 2001.

Some of the other classic fake commercials in their video library:

The problem was, the host was terrible. Anyone could tell from watching the olympics that Phelps has virtually no charisma, he was a horrible choice.

I Tivoed it and only liked the cold opening (Tina Fey nailed Sarah Palin). I thought the Jar Glove as was weak. Most of the other skits sucked. I still Tivo it but usually get through an episode in about a half hour.

SNL just isn't want it used to be. I suppose I could just not be in the mood but I wasn't a huge fan of the skit. I think I'll stick to my funny or die.

i think the consensus is that the michael phelps' diet skit was the best. i wonder what affect his performance (snl) has on his marketing opportunities... acting seems like it's out.

snl is not the same as it used to be, and it has transformed too. i expect it to use more politics for comedic material in the next few months
