java 1.4.2 update wont install

i had to do an archive install becuase every apple application was quiting out of no where so when i did i had to update all the software again and now the java update will not install becuase it will not let me do it. it says that i can only install it on a computer running 10.3.1 or higher and i am running 10.3.3... whats the deal. can anyone help. thanks alot.
