Where is Java 1.6? You can download it for Tiger but not for Leopard? I am trying to run a Media Server for my PS3 and DirecTV. The program "PS3mediaserver" needs 1.6. Also 1.6 is on the Leopard Drive. However you cannot change the link to use it vice 1.5. Nor in the Apps/Utilities/Java can you see it there. Thanks!

/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6/Commands/java

I think you need a 64-bit machine though.

I looked at that but cannot link to it. Like you said it could be for the 64Bit Machines. But Apple has a download for it for 10.4 (Tiger). I also assume that Sun/Java has made updates to Java as opposed to what Apple has provided. Its pretty obvious with the updates to the XP/Vista Operating Systems for the PC. Looking at other threads over at Apple it seems they are dragging their heels on this update. But if not then their are programs that Leopard cannot use but Tiger can. And not the Servers....

This release updates Java SE 6 to version 1.6.0_07, J2SE 5.0 to version 1.5.0_16, and J2SE 1.4.2 to 1.4.2_18.

This release is only for Mac OS X 10.5.4 and later, and should not be installed on earlier versions of Mac OS X.

This release of J2SE 5.0 and J2SE 1.4.2 supports all Intel and PowerPC-based Macs. Java SE 6 is available on 64-bit, Intel-based Macs only.

1.6 isn't available for Tiger as far as I can see...

Apple control Java on Mac OS X - and are being quite frankly atrocious about it
