Hello,

On my mother's Macbook Pro she got a notification for Java 13.6 for mac needing to be updated on some random website and installed it. Her internet now is running extremely slow. The downloaded file referenced Java Tree Manual in its file name and doesn't seem to be at all legit.

I checked java.com and the latest is Version 8 Update 31. I know there were fake java update versions out there that are viruses/malware. I scanned her Mac with Avast! and Adware Medic but neither found anything. Is there anything else I should do to check her Mac?

In Launchdaemons, there is only one java related item, com.oracle.java.Helper-Tool.plist

Under LaunchAgents, there's these two:

com.apple.java.InstallOnDemand.plist
com.apple.java.updateSharing.plist
