Java IRC on Mac?

Whenever I open a Java IRC client on my Mac the client blinks and becomes very annoying. Is there a fix for this?

Think you got the wrong forum. Probably want the applications forum. Unless this is a web site you're talking about, in which case provide a link.

It's not an application, just a piece of java placed on websites (which is why I've got confused on where to put the topic).

Well can you provide a link to one of these web sites so we can see the problem. I'm too tired to use my psychic powers to determine the solution without seeing the problem.

I tried it with Firefox 3 and Safari and didn't see any blinking except when scrolling the page. What browser and version are you using? Also, what version of Java do you have installed? To find Java version go to /Applications/Utilities/Java/Java Preferences and you find it.

Edit: OK just noticed there is a flicker in Firefox when the text field has the focus (the one for typing a message). Safari doesn't have the flicker though. If no one here has an answer you may try asking in the Programming forum, though it wouldn't likely be anything you can change, it would have to change on the program side, and doubting you wrote the applet.

Okay thanks for the help. I guess I'll just use Safari when dealing with Java IRC. Using J2SE 5.0 (for preferred) btw.

I just registered here for the sole purpose of bumping this post and bringing it to your attention again, because I can't seem to find anywhere else that has even addressed this issue.

In Firefox, the window of any Java IRC Chat blinks/flickers/flashes every couple seconds whenever the cursor is in the text bar. I know of another Mac user this is affecting also.

We need to find out how to fix this as it's VERY annoying...

I'm pretty sure it's not the browser since it happens in safari as well. Apple needs to post an update for it.
