Java plug in gone

I updated to Safari 5.0.6 today and now I can't use any Java applications. I have J2SE 1.4.2 32 bit version 1.4.2_22 and J2SE5.0 version 1.5.0_30-b03. (The 1.42 is on top) Shouldn't there be a Java plug in in my Safari? I think they call it a JRE (Java runtime environment). Anyway i can't use a program called retailgis. Where do I find the JRE? BTW, I did the software update and it says we're just fine.
