JB 4S 5.0.1 to 5.1.1

I have an iPhone 4S JB'd on 5.0.1 and I obviously want to update to 5.1.1 like everyone else. How exactly do I get to 5.1.1 to I can jailbreak with Absinthe? I backed up to iTunes beforehand and clicked update which resulted in me getting some 3000 error. Then I tried just restoring it from iTunes and was going to update it after that. Now I'm stuck in recovery mode and am getting a 21 error every time I try to restore. Can someone please help me? 5.0.1 was my first jailbreak and t was so easy, but this is a bit more complicated. At this point I just need a working phone again! Thanks in advance.

Try editing your hosts file

use tinyumbrella to kick it out of recovery, then restore with 5.1.1

tinyumbrella got it out of restore mode! thanks so much! what's the proper way to restore to 5.1.1 so this doesn't happen again? I have the ipsw file if I need it.

if on windows hold shift key and hit restore, point it to the 5.1.1 ipsw and let it do the rest

also make sure that your hosts file isnt set to cydia still

I think I've got it fixed! now I'll try to update to 5.1.1 and go from there. thank you for your help!
