jb 4s wipe question?

Hi...

factory unlocked 4s I'm trying to erase all content and settings a white bar goes on after for seconds then spinning wheel of death...so I turned it off then back on everything is the same still? is that because it's JB? now to wipe it I gotta download the ipsw and restore via itunes?

You cannot do an erase all on a JB iphone.
It will get stuck on the apple logo.
You will need to restore it now in order for it to boot up again.

The phone is working but still not wiped... so do I download 5.0.1 (4S): iPhone4,1_5.0.1_9A405_Restore.ipsw or 5.0.1 (4S) [9A406]: iPhone4,1_5.0.1_9A406_Restore.ipsw ?

Either one, it wont matter.
You can just plug it to itunes and do a restore.
Itunes will download the correct ipsw for you.
You might have to put it in dfu restore mode:

Once I do that will I have issues restoring from the backup I just did or start fresh?
