JB and unlock G2 to 2.2 - restore from b/u or set as new?

I am confused on one step. After creating a custom restore with JB and unlock for G2 iPhone version 2.2 with Pwanage 2.2 and successfully applying it via itunes 8.02 - is it OK to restore from backup rather than to start as new phone so that the settings and emails survive?

I just finished with mine - also 2G - and it is absolutely OK to restore it from the backup. You'll have everything that you had before - except the JB apps of course...
