Think I've just blown the low frequency driver in the cabinet, or possibly damaged the crossover? it's making an awful rattle under any load, so damn bleeding annoying..

Does anyone know where I can buy replacement parts for the JBL Control 5 Pro?? I's prefer not to buy a replacement, since I've heard it's possible to replace components in them but anyone know where to source them, with international shipping???

Thanks...

A local audio shop should be able to recomend someone who can recone the driver, or find a replacement.

These guys are good. They are in So. California. Don't know where you are. They can re-cone a driver or replace a x-over. They list the price of a "control 5" driver re-cone job at $49
I've sent some much larger speakers in for repair. Give them a call or e-mail

I looked at that site, and it appears that the $49 price isn't for a recone, it's for a replacement driver.

For reference, the JBL part is C5003. Knowing this, you should be able to find a replacement driver from a number of other sources if another would be more convinient.

I've found this company based in Germany called thomann from their site, they appear to be a audio specialist.. they list loads of parts, even speaker recondition kits but I don't know what I need to order.. and looking on the cracked transducer there's no part numbers other than a smudged "4Ω"

So, besides it's resistance, does anyone know what part I need?? A number would be useful..

Alternatively I can call them after the Easter holidays and speak to an adviser. The Control 5 unit I have is very old...

JBL 6.5" Woofer C5003

Could be, but the title on the top of the web page reads "Reconing & Repair Prices". The JBL "Control 5" is the last item in the JBL section on that page.

This is what I'm reading

Thanks for the help Chris.

Just wanna confirm, before i order from a local supplier that this is the correct product and the code/model would be "JBL 6.5" Woofer C5003" ??
Cause, it looks a little different.. lol

Another thing, should i replace both units or just the damaged one? Suggestions?

Yes, that is the part you need to order. You can probably get away with replacing just one driver, but the odds are if one is noticeably damaged, the other was probably pushed just as hard, and might be damaged to a lesser extent. If you replace both you're going to end up with two drivers that have similar age, and will probably voice closer to each other than a new driver with and old (and possibly damaged) driver.

Yeah, seems we're thinking along the same lines... So, I've ordered two drivers. I just hope that's all I need. Anyway, thanks for all your help guys, couldn't of done it without you!

Cheers :)
