I just got a 27" iMac with 500 GB SSD. For external storage I'm going to get the Promise Technology Pegasus J4 Thunderbolt Drive (4 TB). But I want to get another external storage device for backup. I have some SATA hard drives I can use:
  • 1.5 TB Seagate Barracuda
  • 2TB Western Digital SATA WD20EARS
  • 750MB Seagate Barracuda 7200.10
  • 750MB Seagate Barracuda 7200.10

I'd like to get an enclosure that can take all these and make it look like one drive. Since it's backup, the performance isn't very important. I'd prefer a thunderbolt connection, but that's not required. Any suggestions?

Buy a single 4TB USB 3.0 drive for backups. It will cost less than an enclosure for the 4 old disks. It will be a new disk so less likely to fail. Also a single drive is quieter and uses less energy.
