Trebek is an outstanding person.

1.) I really can appreciate the fact that he addressed the public, and not having to be heard through a third-party rumor about his disease. And as private as this matter is, it takes a bigger person to discuss something like this openly.

2.) His positive attitude is inspiring at his age, and not accepting defeat for something as dangerous as this, but with the attitude moving forward that he plans on defying any odds.

God speed.

I thought I read somewhere a few months back there was some talk of Ken Jennings taking over when Trebek's contract ran out. He might be a good choice.

Anything better than some greasy game show retread who is under the illusion that he's funny. I agree with you, I think Ken Jennings would do better than anybody else I can imagine, he has an attractive person and it's pretty obvious that he's a kind, outgoing person. And he has credibility up (or is it out? -- I wasn't paying attention in h. s. English that day) the wazoo.

Only Alex Trebek can make such a devastating announcement while making you learn something about it in such a calm and reassuring way.

Alex has been a class act his entire life from what I can see, he doesn't take sides, is genuinely objective and always someone I have looked up to. It's sad to see this diagnosis but I'm sure he'll make the best of it, one can only assume he's undergoing aggressive treatment at this point and as one who watches the show daily, I can say he hasn't missed a beat. Keep it up, Alex!

I'm up in the air about Ken Jennings but would be willing to give him a try.
