I use Safari in fullscreen, and sometimes is has a VERY unsmooth transition to the desktop when I swipe. I notice _windowserver spikes in Activity Monitor when I swipe between the two screens. If I swipe from my mail, to safari, then to my desktop _windowserver spikes up to 50% CPU usage. Typically it idles at .6%, and most of the time it does not spike that high and I have a very smooth transition between screens.

Hmm, I just noticed, I could get used to fullscreen browsing o_O

windowserver got up to 30% by constantly swiping between fullscreen Safari and an empty desktop, but it was smooth.

What machine and how much RAM do you have?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

This happens to mine when battery hits 5% or less. charge it up...all is fine.

I have a 2011 13" MBP with the i5 and 8GB ram. I can have it on and off the charger and it will still spike real high and lag. It does not do it all of the time, but just randomly.
