I have to ask about this. I was flicking through Sky earlier and caught 2 episodes of this show; I didn't know what on earth was going on, can anyone help? Bare in mind I've never seen this show before!

1- Why did 2 fighting women suddenly lose their clothes after the break? And a pole dancer appeared  I thought it might have been a one off but the next episode had some more (overweight) women magically lose their tops.

1.5- Do audience members flash their boobs to get medals?

2- Some toothless wonder got up on stage and the sound guy put some country music on, to which the audience got up on stage for a little dance. What (usually) triggers that?

3- Are they plied with alcohol or drugs? They all seem so aggressive.

finally the most important one-

Is it real? Parts of it seemed staged to me. I find it hard to believe that the guests can be that stupid. There doesn't seem to be any resolve for the guests.

Other than being utterly confused by it, I find it an outstanding program! I never knew people like this actually exist.

:pThe debate is still out on if these people are actors or not but half of the stuff on that show you just can't make up.

Of course it isn't real. It's all a set-up- Springer has willingly admitted that in the past. The show is complete trash.

That said, I've met Jerry several times. He's a really nice guy.

The guests are prepped before going out on stage, I don't know if they are actors tho or just goated before hand.

Isn't it true that even some of the more "respected" of these shows (oprah, for example) use audience plants? That is people who are "planted" in the studio audience by the producers, and whose job is to make some inflammatory statement, or ask a volatile question, if the show is going flat?

It's hard to believe that shows such as Jerry Springer even have an audience, but then again, maybe I shouldn't be surprised.

raggedjimmi, stick with reruns of "The Outer Limits", "Star Trek", and "The Twilight Zone". They much better for you. Heck, you can even catch some episodes on Youtube.

Jerry Springer is an annoying dirt bag.

nuff said.

And if America's Got Talent isn't a bad show as it is, he's made it worse.

I like to call JS "really bad tv" the acts are just stupid. Years ago I always wondered where the hell did he find these people....forget it just watch Muary and the 8 billion times he say "you are the father"

Can Muary find another topic besides caught on tape and giving out free test?

Bless

We have a very similar daytime show over here hosted by Trisha Goddard. It's so bad I suspect it's a government plot to get the long-term unemployed back to work :p

The thing about Maury is that he was once a respected journalist.

I've commented to my wife that they ought to change the name of Maury's show to "Who's your daddy?"

Now I can't say that Springer is all real or all fake, and the comedic value depends on personal tastes, but really, it's there as an outlet for people who like trashy TV.

I used to live in a town with people who would be perfect for JS, and many of them wanted to be on. Or were just in situations which would have made them perfect. Sadly, there are many people like this here. And worse, many more who like to watch.

I now live in a place where everyone thinks they're so much better than those in the small towns, and yet, would still do almost anything for their 15 minutes as well.

I laughed so hard over your comment...I get sucked in every time when I actually catch one of his paternity episodes. And it amazes me when there are like five guys on stage and NONE of them are the father so they have to do another episode for the same chick.
