Hi Guys, so i got an email today to attend an Apple seminar this thursday for a job as a specialist at the new store opening in Newcastle UK this Spring.
Is there anybody on here that has been through this process and can give me the heads up on what to expect! im apple mad and have worked in retail for the past 10 years (for my sins). ive heard of these background checks they do? whats that about? ive no crim record or health probs and all my previous employment will give me references. my credit rating is a bit touch and go though! let me know what you all think! cheers!

goodluck OP! i went for an interview with Apple about a year ago, but didnt get the job. i have a very sound knowledge of apple products (probably a bit too much) but unfortunately i dont think they liked my personality

From what I can tell Apple stores are only interested in the people who drank the koolaid.

Good luck.

I was in one a few weeks ago but didn't get the 2nd interview. I did email the manager that organized the seminar and said how I didn't like how it went. I wasn't able to talk about my skills since there were way too many people in the room and we only had an hour for the entire interview.

He emailed me back saying:

Alex

I'm sorry you are not happy with the outcome of the hiring seminar. I'll keep your resume and below email on-file.

Don't think my resume's on file though. lol but I tried

good luck on the interview!

quotes like this make me laugh from the article linked in the second post

During one talk he said Apple hired 978 store employees during 2002 from an applicant pool of 16,438, or less than a 6% chance of being hired (Stanford accepted 12.6 % for 2005). Put another way, only 1 in 17 applicants is hired.

Last time I checked Apple doesn't require a $90 application fee from each one of those applicants.

whats koolaid? lol sorry if i sound dumb but i aint hard that term before!

lol.....seriously?

koolaid is an extremely sugary drink for kids.....but "drinking the koolaid" is a reference to a cult group that committed mass suicide by obediently drinking what they knew to be poisoned koolaid on the orders of their cult leader
