Save yourself having to buy Applecare by purchasing from John Lewis today. 3 years guarantee included.
If you are a student, as you aware, you can't get any educational discounts from them - however with Apple recently reducing this discount to 10%, the difference isn't that great. Apple will still be cheaper direct via educational store, however...
John Lewis provide 3 years accidental cover for £80, so might be worth it even if you are a university student! There is no excess to pay and comparatively it is very cheap (you may have to pay ~£12-£15 a month otherwise)
