Joost app....what's the catch?

I'm trying to figure out why apple would allow an app into the app store that takes business away from itunes. If we get get movies and shows for free on Joost, why would we pay for movies on itunes? I understand that it only works on Wifi and not on 3g/Edge, but it still seems odd.

Joost does not come close to itunes, or even youtube for that matter.
