I'm looking for some advice on which direction to take regarding a data management application.

I love Journler's simple but elegant interface and the amazing features. Unfortunately, the developer recently announced that he will no longer be working on Journler and instead is open-sourcing the code.

I've tried other similar software, including Evernote, Yojimbo, MacJournal, Notebook, and Together. I dislike all of them except Together for various reasons. There are a few features Together is missing, however. No ability to set a smart folder conditional by media type (movie, image, pdf, audio file, etc.), no wiki-style linking, and a few other relatively minor things.

Here's my question: should I continue to use Journler, or move to Together? Would you continue to use a program that you really like on the hopes that the open source community will pick up its development? Or should I just pony up the $40 and use Together?

Just looking for some opinions here as I weigh my options and begin the process of importing all my data into a management app.
