I have deleted some very old slides scanned into my MBP and disposed of the slides. They are no longer in the trash.
What is the best data recovery software I could use to try and recover them.
 
1) Stop using the Mac. Every time the disk is written to, the chances of successful recovery become slimmer.

2) I've had good results with TechTool Pro. I've never found a free utility that can do this if that's what you're looking for...

I don't have a recommendation, but stop using your computer until you have something, because any use may be overwriting the deleted image info that's still on the hard disk.
