JRE for open office

Hi,
I am trying to create a database in Open Office but I get the message that it needs java runtime environment and the one I have is defective. I have installed the java update but still can´t get it going.
Any help?

What version of OS X?

Check the Open Office support pages and forums. You might find that there is a problem (and workaround) with Open Office 3.3 in recognising the JRE on OSX.
