Hello. I wanted to hear your opinions on improving my MB's speed and performance. I don't have extensive know-how of how to upgrade my hardware, but google is man's new best friend, right?

I run parallels and SPSS often, and do some gaming as well.

Right now, I have:

Model Identifier: MacBook5,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 3 MB
Memory: 2 GB

Any suggestions? Also, any suggestions on where to buy the upgrades?

Thank you!:)

4GB of 204-pin 1066 MHz PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM and a faster HDD or even SSD.

HDD either Western Digital 640GB 5400rpm HDD or 500GB 7200RPM HDD from Seagate (Momentus 7200.4) or Hitachi (Travelstar).

Many, and I mean plenty by many, threads can be found by MRoogle - link in my confident signature.

Processor is soldered onto the logic board. You can get logic board with slightly faster CPU but this will cost about the same as to sell you MacBook and buy latest brand new one.
