I've been using four desktops for many years. Until recently (I think with Sequoia 15.0), I could assign apps to desktops or place windows on them and switch with keyboard shortcuts with never a problem.
Now, whether I assign apps to desktops or not, desktops change places for no apparent reason. It may take several hours, sometimes overnight. It's always the same changes: desktop 3 jumps to 4, 4 jumps to 2, and 2 jumps to 3. For example, if I assign VMware Fusion to desktop 4, eventually i will find it on desktop 2 and right-clicking on the dock icon shows that it has been reassigned to desktop 2. If I open it on 4 and set its assignment to None, it will still jump to 2 after a while. The same thing happens to the Firefox windows I want to keep on 2 and 3. Desktop 1 is stable.
The computer is a 2018 Mac mini, 6-core i5, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Sequoia 15.3.
