Hello,
I am having trouble connecting a recently inherited older Mac Mini (1.25ghz PPC, 1GB RAM) to a 2006 37" Sharp Aquos LCD. Ultimately, I would like to cut cable and replace it with OTA + Boxee + Front Row + ???

I am connecting through a VGA cable with DVI (old DVI, not DVI-D) adapters on both ends. I booted the Mini. No picture.

I looked around on the web. Plenty of complaints, can't find anything useful. Apple says to reset PRAM, no help.

I plugged my wife's Windows laptop into the Aquos using the same cables and got no picture until until clicking FN + F4, the video toggle function key, then I got a very nice picture. OK, good to know the port, cable and adapters work, but there is no equivalent that I know of to FN + F4 on the Mini. Is there such a thing?

I borrowed a ~25" Samsung LCD. The Samsung has only a VGA input, so I used the same cable with one fewer adapter. The Mini on the Samsung works perfectly upon booting. I removed the cable from the still-on Samsung, add the DVI adapter, plug it into the Aquos, and get a great picture. This is great until the Mini goes to sleep or restarts. Then the picture goes away and does not come back.

I tried several different resolutions and pretty much every resolution I tried works as long as I plug it into the Samsung first. I've never before heard of anyone having to jump start their TV.

Lastly, I VNC'ed into the Mini from an iPad when it was hooked up to the Aquos thinking that if I changed the resolution that it would send some kind of refresh signal to the TV. No picture.

I would appreciate any suggestions.
