jumpy choppy export

i have an iMac from about a year ago.
I use after effects daily.
i had recently noticed that when i move an psd across the screen on a motion path when i export the video it looks like it's skipping or jumpy.

im not sure why.

i have tried changing the composition settings to 23.97 frames
thinking maybe the computer couldn't process so many frames.

i export it as h.264


any suggestions

Maybe tried exporting from AE as MOV using the Animation codec first and then use Adobe Media Encoder to create the H.264 file?
